Soraya El Kahlaoui

Principal investigator of the Traab project

Soraya El Kahlaoui holds a PhD in sociology from EHESS. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University’s Conflict and Development Research Center. Throughout her research, she analyzes mechanisms of dispossession and the development of property rights in the MENA region. The goal of her project is to provide a re-reading of post-2011 North African social and political transformations (Morocco and Tunisia). She is also the author of the documentary Landless Moroccans and numerous articles such as “Claiming their right to possess”; The Guich Oudaya tribe’s resistance to land grabbing” published by JNAS.

Meriem Bentarjem

Data Manager & Creator
of the Application Digitraab

Meriem Bentarjem develops technical and statistical tools to solve social science problems as a statistician specializing in risk calculation in insurance, data, and public policy. As the lead statistician on a study “Justice and Judges’ Movements”, she produced a statistical analysis that described the dynamics of judges’ movements in Tunisia over a 20-year period. Currently, she is part of a regional program developed by Birzeit University and the Amerian University of Cairo (AUC) on “Governing Responsible AI and Data in the MENA Region.” In addition, she is part of the AUC Data Governance System program. In 2015, she co-founded Barr Al Aman research media to inform and debate public policy issues, decision-making processes, and society’s impacts.

Pr Karen Rignall

Kentucky University

Karen Rignall is a cultural anthropologist and associate professor at the University of Kentucky whose work spans activist, academic, and community spaces. She is the author of the book An Elusive Common: Land, Politics, and Agrarian Rurality, published by Cornell University Press.
